Delaware Marathon

The Delaware Running Club coed masters relay team placed second overall in the 4-person Delaware Marathon Relay on May 18.   The team consisted of Paul Olivere, Frank Sutman, Vicki Rudawsky, and Tim Talley.   Their time of 2:35:22 was good enough to lower the coed masters course record by seven minutes and win their relay category.   They had a fun horse race with the Chester County Running Store team, who finished a scant 61 seconds ahead.

Congratulations are also due to Austin Gee.   Delaware was Austin's first marathon finish.  His excellent effort produced a 2:50:36, which was good for first Delaware finisher, 6th overall, and an age group win.   Great job!

Congratulations to Meredith Lambert on her 2:48:21 posted in the US Women's Olympic Marathon Trials.   Her April 20 effort in Boston was good for 80th place amongst the best marathon field the US has to offer.

Thank you to everyone who came out on March 29 to participate in the Mike Clark Memorial Run.  The date was especially appropriate, as Mike's birthday was the day prior.  We had about 60 people come for the group run, which may be a record!   Unfortunately, our attempts for a pre-run group photo were unsuccessful.   Even more friends and family of Mike's came to our post-run breakfast.   We're all very grateful to Mike Monagle for hosting and providing a fine meal.   Here are a few photos from the post-run celebration.   Thanks again for making this tribute to a beloved member of our community a great success!

Bijan Sorouri's photos from the 2008 Caesar Rodney Half Marathon may be seen here.

Long time club member Mike Clark passed away around 2:00am on March 7th from complications from an infection.

Mike was an outstanding athlete and close friend to many of us. He will be sorely missed.

The Memorial will be at the Hockessin Police Athletic League on Tuesday afternoon, March 11th, at 3:00pm.
